Challenger – 28/01/1986
Today marks the 31st anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challengers final and fatal voyage.
At 11:30 ECT on the 28th January 1986, the shuttle Challenger disintegrated after launch. With it all seven crew members died. But the crew of STS-51-L will never be forgotten. They were heroes of their time. The men and women of the Space program continue to work wonders and bring humanity closer to the reaches of outer space.
To mark todays anniversary, I have drawn up a commemorative illustration.
The following people gave their all for a shared dream, and a past that will never be forgotten.
Francis R. Scobee, Commander
Michael J. Smith, Pilot
Ronald McNair, Mission Specialist
Ellison Onizuka, Mission Specialist
Judith Resnik, Mission Specialist
Gregory Jarvis, Payload Specialist
Christa McAuliffe, Payload Specialist, Teacher
